How can I ask in Japanese “Today is hotter than yesterday” ?
Basic comparative
When we compare two things and want to say that one of them is better, hotter, worse, etc,
Noun 1 +は + Noun 2 +より + Adjective
Noun 1 + wa + Noun 2 + yori + Adjective
- Noun 2 is the object compared with Noun 1
is typically used.

今日は暑いです。
Kyoo wa atsui desu.
Today is hot.
今日は昨日より暑いです。
Kyoo wa kinoo yori atsui desu.
Today is hotter than yesterday.
Here, the basic meaning of the phrases above is “Today is hot.”
But it becomes a comparative phrase by adding 昨日より (kinoo yori: than yesterday).
Intensifying the Comparative
We can straighten the comparative phrase by adding

*Place before the adjective.
So for instance,
今日は昨日よりずっと暑いです。
